England young gun takes strides in latest rankings update

Spin-bowling all-rounder Charlie Dean has surged into the top 10 of the latest Women’s ODI bowling rankings after standout performances for England in their recent victories over New Zealand on home ground.

The 23-year-old off-spinner excelled with figures of 4/38 (9) in the first match at Chester-le-Street, where she was named Player of the Match in a nine-wicket win. She followed this with 2/35 (10) in Worcester, contributing to another comfortable eight-wicket victory. These performances resulted in Dean climbing nine places to 7th position in the bowling rankings, achieving her highest career rating of 614 points.

Dean joins England teammates Sophie Ecclestone (ranked first) and Kate Cross (ranked second) in the top ten, underscoring England’s bowling strength. Ecclestone continued her impressive form with a five-wicket haul in the second match, finishing with figures of 5/25 (9) and extending her lead at the top with a career-high rating of 802 points. Meanwhile, Cross moved ahead of Australian Megan Schutt with a rating of 683 points.

Dean’s contributions also boosted her all-rounder ranking, where she climbed five places to 11th with 206 points. Her compatriot Nat Sciver-Brunt moved up to second place with 401 points, closing in on the top spot held by Marizanne Kapp (405).

In the batting rankings, Sciver-Brunt maintained her top position with 770 points, while Maia Bouchier made a significant leap of 33 places after scoring 67 and an unbeaten 100 in consecutive innings.
