West Indies duo big winners in ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings

ISLAMABAD (WSN) – Jayden Seales and Jason Holder of the West Indies have made notable gains in the latest ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings.

Both players excelled during the West Indies’ recent Test series against South Africa, even though the Caribbean team was defeated 1-0 in the series.

Fast bowler Jayden Seales achieved a career-high 13th position in the ICC Men’s Test Bowling Rankings after his impressive performance in the second Test against South Africa in Guyana. Seales, who took nine wickets in a narrow 40-run loss that secured South Africa’s 1-0 series win, has climbed 13 spots to become the top-ranked Test bowler from the West Indies.

In other significant changes for West Indies bowlers, spinners Jomel Warrican (52nd) and Gudakesh Motie (64th) have moved up two positions each, while fast bowler Shamar Joseph has risen 11 places to 54th.

For South Africa, Player of the Match Wiaan Mulder has advanced 27 places to 65th after taking six wickets, and off-spinner Dane Piedt has climbed nine places to 66th following his two wickets in the second innings.

In the Test batting rankings, South Africa’s Aiden Markram and Kyle Verreynne have gained ground after scoring half-centuries in the second innings. Markram has moved up two spots to 21st, while Verreynne has risen from 62nd to 46th.

Former West Indies captain Jason Holder has jumped seven places to 60th in the batting rankings following his unbeaten 54 in the first innings. He has also climbed two positions to 5th in the all-rounders’ list.

In the ICC Men’s ODI Batting Rankings, Scott Edwards of the Netherlands has ascended six places to 26th after scoring 72 against Canada and 65 against the USA in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2. Aaron Jones of the USA has moved up 11 spots to 56th, Vikramjit Singh of the Netherlands has risen nine places to 79th, and Aryan Dutt of the Netherlands has climbed five places to 33rd.

In the ICC World Test Championship standings, South Africa is in fifth place with 38.89 percentage points after six matches, while the West Indies are at the bottom of the nine-team table with 18.52 points after nine matches. India leads with 68.52 percentage points after nine matches, followed by Australia with 62.50 points from 12 matches. New Zealand and Sri Lanka are also ahead of South Africa.
