England keeper Earps to leave Manchester United

England goalkeeper Mary Earps is set to depart Manchester United after a five-year tenure with the Women’s Super League (WSL) club, according to an announcement on Saturday. Reports from British media suggest she is likely to join Paris St Germain.

Earps, who previously played for Leicester City, Nottingham Forest, and Reading, joined Manchester United in 2019. She achieved a WSL record by keeping 14 clean sheets in the 2022-23 season and played a pivotal role in the team’s triumph at the Women’s FA Cup in 2024, their first major trophy. At 31 years old, Earps holds the WSL’s all-time record with 56 clean sheets.

In a statement on Instagram, Earps expressed her decision to seek a new challenge after careful consideration, citing a misalignment with the club’s upcoming transition phase and her career trajectory.

Manchester United acknowledged Earps’ departure in a statement, thanking her for her dedicated service. This announcement follows the recent exits of midfielder and captain Katie Zelem and forward Lucia Garcia from the club.

Despite missing England’s Euro 2025 qualifying match against France due to a hip injury, Earps remains in contention for upcoming matches against Ireland and Sweden in July as part of the national squad.
