American rapper Snoop Dogg is set to participate in carrying the Olympic torch through Saint-Denis this Friday, a notable event leading up to the opening ceremony of the Paris Games. Joining him will be French actress Laetitia Casta, French rapper MC Solaar, and retired Ukrainian pole-vaulter Sergey Bubka.
Snoop Dogg, along with other dignitaries, will take part in the Olympic torch relay through Saint-Denis, a culturally diverse suburb north of Paris that hosts the Olympic Stadium and Aquatics Centre, according to Mathieu Hanotin, the mayor of Saint-Denis, as reported by AFP on Monday.
The Olympic flame has traversed France over the past two months, culminating in its journey through the athletes’ village spanning Saint-Denis and neighboring Saint-Ouen on Friday morning. It will then proceed to the Olympic Stadium and the Aquatics Centre a few kilometers away.
Born in the greater Los Angeles area, where the 2028 Games will be hosted, the 52-year-old Snoop Dogg will not only participate in the torch relay but also serve as an Olympic commentator for the US television network NBC during the 2024 Games.
