LAHORE (WSN) – On Friday, Nawaz Sharif, President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), announced a relief of Rs14 per unit for households using up to 500 units of electricity. This relief will be applicable for the months of August and September.
At a press conference with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz by his side, Nawaz Sharif highlighted the severe impact of inflation on the public. He referenced his October 21 speech at Minar-e-Pakistan, where he discussed the escalating cost of living.
Nawaz Sharif remarked on the contrast between current high inflation and the lower costs of 2017. He claimed that his removal from office in 2017 was unjust and attributed to political victimization rather than merit.
While not naming him directly, Sharif implied that the IMF’s involvement in the country was due to actions taken by his predecessor, who is now imprisoned.
He also called on the prime minister and the Punjab chief minister to intensify their efforts to combat inflation and improve the quality of life for the people.
