Wood takes the place of the retired Anderson in England’s squad for the second Test against the West Indies.

Fast bowler Mark Wood will step into James Anderson’s position in the England squad for the upcoming second Test against West Indies at Trent Bridge, as announced by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Saturday.

Anderson, who retired on Friday after his 188th Test match, concluded his illustrious career spanning 21 years with 704 wickets, making him the third-highest wicket-taker in Test cricket history. England celebrated his farewell with a resounding victory over West Indies at Lord’s, winning by an innings and 114 runs.

Wood, aged 34, has featured in 34 Test matches, claiming 108 wickets. His most recent Test appearance was against India in March.

The second Test is set to commence on Thursday, followed by a third and final Test scheduled to start in Birmingham on July 26.
