Semi-final schedule confirmed for T20 World Cup 2024

Trinidad and Tobago will host the first semi-final between South Africa and Afghanistan, while India and England will compete in the second knockout match in Guyana.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup has finalized the dates, teams, and venues for the knockout phase. South Africa, topping Group 2 in the Super Eight stage, aims to maintain their unbeaten streak as they face Afghanistan at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad and Tobago on Wednesday.

Afghanistan secured their place in the semi-finals by defeating Bangladesh in their last Super Eights match in St Vincent. They posted 115/5 and bowled out Bangladesh for 105 in a rain-affected match, clinching an 8-run victory via the DLS method.

The second semi-final is scheduled for Thursday in Guyana, where undefeated India will meet reigning T20 World Cup champions England. India confirmed their semi-final berth with a notable win over Australia, setting up a rematch with Jos Buttler’s team from their lopsided encounter in the previous T20 World Cup in Australia two years ago.

In that contest, England dominated with a 10-wicket victory at the Adelaide Oval on their way to their second Men’s T20 World Cup title.
