Rakitic has signed with Hajduk Split following his departure from Al-Shabab.

Former Croatia midfielder Ivan Rakitic is set to join Hajduk Split following the mutual termination of his contract with Saudi Pro League club Al-Shabab. Rakitic, aged 36, scored once in eight appearances during his six-month tenure with Al-Shabab, where the team finished eighth with 52 points.

Al-Shabab announced the termination of Rakitic’s contract on social media, stating, “The club management reached an agreement with Croatian player Ivan Rakitic to mutually terminate their contractual relationship.”

Meanwhile, Hajduk Split confirmed on Sunday that they have signed the former Barcelona and Sevilla midfielder for one season, with an option for an additional year. This move marks Rakitic’s return to Croatia, where he will begin his first season with Hajduk Split.

Born in Switzerland, Rakitic represented Croatia in 106 matches, scoring 15 goals, and notably helped the national team reach the World Cup final in 2018.
