ISLAMABAD (WSN) – The Islamabad city administration has denied permission for PTI’s rally scheduled in Tarnol on August 22.

This decision was made following a meeting led by the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, based on a report from the district intelligence committee.

The district administration’s statement noted that the presence of the Bangladesh cricket team in Islamabad has heightened security concerns. Managing the crowd at the rally would be challenging, especially given recent incidents where protesters reached the Supreme Court. Therefore, the rally cannot be authorized under these conditions.

Additionally, the IG Islamabad expressed concerns that rallies intended as protests might escalate into long-term sit-ins. Consequently, the city cannot permit PTI to hold a rally or procession, he stated.

The IGP added that with various sensitive events occurring in the city, it is impractical to handle such a situation.

The Special Branch has also reported threats related to public gatherings, and PTI members have been informed of these risks. Issuing an NOC to PTI at this time could be hazardous.
