ISLAMABAD (WSN) – On Saturday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif instructed that all development projects with budgets exceeding two billion rupees undergo third-party validation.
During a meeting in Islamabad, he reviewed issues related to electronic procurement, the e-Pak acquisition, and disposal systems.
The Prime Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing transparency in procurement processes and called for third-party validation to address grievances and concerns effectively.
He also recommended that the complaint resolution system for procurement be independent of the procuring agency and suggested amendments to existing rules.
Expressing frustration with the delay in the e-procurement project’s implementation, he ordered its completion within one month.
The Prime Minister was informed that the e-Procurement project, which began in 2017 with World Bank funding, has a total cost of 45 million dollars. It has been adopted by 37 ministries and over 300 federal procuring agencies. Additionally, Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) have been signed with the governments of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir regarding e-procurement.
