ISLAMABAD (WSN) – Despite strained relations with India since 2019, Pakistan has continued to import goods from its eastern neighbor. Over the past five years, Pakistan has imported products totaling $1.62 billion from India.
The Foreign Office spokesperson noted that trade and diplomatic relations with India remain suspended, with no resumption of talks or normalization of relations since 2019. Nevertheless, imports from India have persisted, reaching a peak of $38 million in the 2019-20 fiscal year.
Imports decreased to $32.7 million in 2020-21 and slightly increased to $35.2 million in 2021-22. In the 2022-23 fiscal year, imports were valued at $27.8 million, and in the most recent fiscal year, they amounted to $27.6 million.
A Ministry of Trade spokesperson revealed that the imports include raw materials for life-saving medicines.
