Croatia’s Vida has decided to end his career in international football.

Croatia’s defender Domagoj Vida has announced his retirement from international soccer after a distinguished 14-year career with the national team, as confirmed by the Croatian Football Federation on Sunday.

Aged 35, Vida made his debut for Croatia in May 2010 and amassed 105 appearances. He played a crucial role in Croatia’s journey to the 2018 World Cup final and their third-place finish in the 2022 World Cup.

Reflecting on his career, Vida expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to represent Croatia in numerous major competitions, stating, “It is a privilege to wear the most beautiful jersey in the world even once in your career, let alone 105 times.”

Currently playing for Greek club AEK Athens, Vida previously had stints with Bayer Leverkusen and Besiktas.
