LAHORE (WS News) – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday underscored the need to engage in climate diplomacy with India.

Addressing a ceremony, the chief minister said the Punjab government was striving to facilitate the youth. She said the enhancement of stipend for the interns was the first step towards it.

The CM also inagurated Green Punjab App and Smog Helpline 1373.

She emphasised the need for climate diplomacy with India, stressing joint efforts to combat environmental challenges.

However, with the rising impact of environmental degradation, the government was now fully aware of its importance, she said.

During her speech, Maryam Nawaz announced an increase in the stipend for youth interns from Rs25,000 to Rs60,000 a month, ensuring that young people are supported in their respective fields.

She noted that practical steps, rather than empty promises, were being taken to address various issues including environment protection issues.

The chief minister sketched the Punjab government’s ongoing efforts to combat smog, a growing concern that has led to respiratory diseases and disrupted daily life.

“The government plans to introduce 28 electric buses by December and implement solar-powered charging stations,” she said. She also mentioned that tougher regulations were being imposed on vehicle owners to improve air quality.

Blasting the opposition for spreading political instability, she reaffirmed the Punjab government’s commitment to development, infrastructure, and reducing inflation.

She said a province attacked the federation with all instruments. She said she was the daughter of Nawaz Sharif who always materialised promises.

CM Maryam also praised the efforts of Marriyum Aurangzeb and her team for their work on environment initiatives.
