Chinese minister calls on Interior Minister Naqvi

ISLAMABAD (WS News) – Chinese Minister for Legal and Political Affairs Chen Mingguo called on Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday.

Naqvi welcomed the high-level delegation led by the Chinese Minister at the Interior Ministry office.

The duo discussed joint counter-terrorism efforts while agreeing to enhance cooperation against smuggling.

The Two sides also discussed effective border control to avoid any untoward incident.

It was also agreed in the meeting that the Gilgit Baltistan policemenl will be trained at China’s Xinjiang Police College. For that, it was decided that a Pakistani delegation would also visit Xinjiang soon.

“Xinjiang province is very vital for Pakistan as we share a 600-kilometre-long border with this Xinjiang. The China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) also passes through Xinjiang. Pakistani delegation’s visit will further strengthen the coordination between two countries,” Naqvi said.

The Chinese Minister noted that terrorism was a mutual problem for both China and Pakistan. He said that Xinjiang remained in the grip of terror for a long time, suggesting that Pakistan could learn from Xinjiang for eliminating terrorism from its soil.

The Chinese delegation included Xinjiang’s Deputy Secretary of the Committee for Parliamentary and Legal Affairs, Executive Director General of Police, and Vice President of the Xinjiang Police Academy whereas Interior Secretary Khuram Ali Agha, Special Secretary of the Interior Waqas Ali Mahmood, and the Additional Secretary of the Interior, Nazar Muhammad Buzdar, were also present in the meeting from Pakistani side alongside Naqvi.
