Chelsea sign teenager Kellyman from Villa

Chelsea have officially secured the signing of 18-year-old Omari Kellyman from Aston Villa, announcing a six-year contract for the forward on Saturday. According to reports from British media, the transfer agreement with Villa, another Premier League club, is valued at approximately £19 million ($24.02 million).

Kellyman, who has featured in six first-team matches for Aston Villa, joined their youth academy in 2022 after previously being with Derby County. He also represents England at the youth international level.

Expressing his enthusiasm about joining Chelsea, Kellyman emphasized the club’s rich history and his aspirations for success. “It’s a massive club with an amazing history, so it is great to join… I want to be successful in the Chelsea shirt, win games and hopefully lift trophies,” he stated on the club’s website. Looking ahead, he aims to establish himself as a significant player for Chelsea and dreams of seeing his face on the stadium’s exterior.

In a related move, Aston Villa recently acquired Dutch defender Ian Maatsen from Chelsea for a reported fee of around £40 million. Maatsen, aged 22, spent the previous season on loan at Borussia Dortmund.
