WASHINGTON (WS News) – The role of states is significant in the US election. They are divided into three types: Blue, Red and Swing States.

BLUE: Generally, the Democratic candidates claim these states. California and New York are among the popular blue states.

RED: Commonly, the Republican nominees win from these areas. Texas and Alabama are included in red states.

SWING: In the US election, these states carry the most notability and influence. The voters in these areas do not support a particular party. Every time, there is a thin margin that helps any candidate to take the lead.

Florida, Pennsylvania and Michigan are included. In these states, the voters’ preferences are based on economy, health and jobs.

This is the reason political parties spend a lot of their time on securing these states.

If one looks at the past trends, no particular party has claimed its victory from these states.

In 2016, Donald Trump won Florida, Michigan and Ohio which helped him win the race to the White House. While in 2020, Joe Biden was successful in Arizona and Georgia.
