DUBAI (WS News) – The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, starting Thursday in the United Arab Emirates, would feature the use of a smart replay system for the first time in any ICC tournament.

This tournament marks the first ICC event to utilise the Smart Replay technology, which had previously been employed in league tournaments like The Hundred and IPL 2024.

Under the smart replay system, each match would be covered by 28 cameras to provide the TV umpire with enhanced footage for better decision-making.

For stumpings, the new system would show footage from three angles—side-on and front-on—within a single frame.

Previously, a stump cam was used, which recorded actions at approximately 50 frames per second (FPS).

In contrast, the Hawk-Eye cameras would capture at around 300 FPS, giving umpires access to much more accurate footage for their decisions.
