Lions eliminate Stallions from Champions One-Day Cup

FAISALABAD (WS News) – Lions knocked out Stallions from Champions One-Day Cup after beating them in Eliminator 1 by 12 runs at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad, on Wednesday.
In pursuit of 264 runs target, Stallions were bowled out for 251 in the final over of the game. Yasir Khan remained top scorer with 39 runs followed by Jahandad Khan from tail order, who made 36 off 31.
Hussain Talat scored 32 runs while Mohammad Mohsin and Mohammad Haris made 30 runs each.
Meanwhile, Khushdil Shah and Ahmed Daniyal took three wickets each.
Lions will now face Markhors in second eliminator in a bid to secure place in the final of the tournament.
Earlier, a brilliant batting performance by tail order helped Lions set a challenging target of 264 runs against Stallions in Eliminator 1.
The opening of Lions after winning the toss was unimpressive as opener Rohail Nazir dismissed for four runs in early blows by the opponent team. They suffered another setback when Ubaid Shah got another breakthrough by removing Omair Bin Yousaf. Imamul Haq managed to made 23 runs.
After their dismissal, Mohammad Taha and Sharoon Siraj stitched a 77-run middle order partnership to boost the total.
The other partnership of 81 runs between Aamer Yamin (46) and Ahmed Daniya (65*) from the tail order helped their side to built a challenging total for Stallions.
The winner of the match will face Markhort in the second eliminator on September 27 in a race to book a place in final of the tournament.
A day earlier, Saim Ayub and Mohammad Hasnain shared eight wickets among them while Usman Khan struck an unbeaten 26-ball 54 as Panthers cruised to a seven-wicket triumph in the Qualifier of the Champions One-Day Cup.
Panthers qualified for the final of the tournament as they chased the meagre 138-run target in 23.4 overs.
