Kwadwo Duah nets his first goal for Switzerland in win over Hungary at Euro 2024

Kwadwo Duah scored his first goal for Switzerland, helping them start their Euro 2024 campaign with a 3-1 win over Hungary at Cologne Stadium. The 27-year-old, with just 45 minutes of previous playing time for the Swiss senior team, had his milestone moment confirmed by VAR after scoring 12 minutes into the Group A match.

Michel Aebischer, who assisted Duah’s goal, scored Switzerland’s second just before half-time, marking his own first international goal. Hungary’s Barnabas Varga scored a header in the second half, denying Switzerland a clean sheet after the break.

In stoppage time, substitute Breel Embolo secured the victory with Switzerland’s third goal, capitalizing on a costly mistake by Hungary, who might have settled for a draw against Group A rivals Scotland.

Hungary had early chances, including one for Roland Sallai that went over the crossbar, before Duah opened the scoring from the edge of the penalty area.
