Alcaraz impressively defeats Djokovic to retain Wimbledon championship title.

Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz delivered a dominant performance, defeating Serbia’s Novak Djokovic 6-2 6-2 7-6(4) in a rematch of last year’s Wimbledon final to successfully retain his title on Sunday.

With this win, Alcaraz now boasts four Grand Slam trophies, maintaining a flawless record in major finals following his two Wimbledon victories, his U.S. Open triumph in 2022, and his recent French Open success last month.

The loss prevented Djokovic from claiming a 25th Grand Slam title to surpass Margaret Court on the all-time list, as well as matching Roger Federer’s record of eight men’s singles titles at Wimbledon.

Alcaraz seized an early advantage, breaking Djokovic on his fifth break point in a marathon 14-minute opening game. The 21-year-old capitalized on strong serving to secure the first set.

In the second set, Alcaraz continued to dominate, pressuring Djokovic from the outset and securing a commanding two-set lead by capitalizing on his opponent’s struggles on serve.

The third set saw Djokovic and Alcaraz locked in a battle until 4-4, when Alcaraz broke with a powerful backhand winner to go up 5-4. Despite facing three match points at 40-0, Alcaraz showed composure to close out the victory in the tiebreak, with Djokovic’s return crashing into the net to seal the win for the Spaniard.
