Efficient Rybakina halts Svitolina’s streak to advance to the Wimbledon semifinals.

Under the rare appearance of sunshine at this year’s Wimbledon tournament, Elena Rybakina swiftly concluded her Centre Court encounter with Elina Svitolina, defeating her 6-3, 6-2 in just over an hour. With most matches being played indoors due to weather, spectators had hoped for a lengthy and thrilling match in the open air. However, they witnessed only an hour of singles action after Novak Djokovic received a walkover due to Alex de Minaur’s withdrawal earlier in the day.

Rybakina, unapologetic for the brevity, aimed simply to secure victory and advance toward another potential Wimbledon title. She expressed satisfaction with her performance and acknowledged the support from the crowd, despite the match being shorter than expected. Rybakina, focused on her goal, shared her excitement about the upcoming match against Barbora Krejcikova, the 2021 French Open champion, in the semifinals.

Notably, Rybakina was unaware that Queen Camilla had been watching from the Royal Box, highlighting her intense concentration on the game. Her determined play saw her recover from an early service break and dominate the match, leaving Svitolina struggling for solutions.

For Svitolina, it was a disappointing outcome after her impressive run at Wimbledon last year. She acknowledged Rybakina’s powerful play, which made it difficult for her to find her rhythm or make a comeback during the match.
