Arshad Nadeem finishes fourth in Paris Diamond League

Pakistan’s top javelin thrower, Arshad Nadeem, made a comeback to competition after a year with a strong performance, securing fourth place at the Paris Diamond League.

Although he missed out on a medal, Nadeem showed promising signs of regaining his form and rhythm ahead of the Paris Olympics. In his first throw, he reached 74.11 meters, steadily improving with subsequent attempts. His second throw measured 80.28 meters, followed by an impressive 82.71 meters on his third attempt, briefly placing him among the top three competitors.

Despite a solid fourth attempt of 82.17 meters, he was surpassed by Jacob Vadlejch’s 85-meter throw in the same round. Nadeem continued to push with an 84.21-meter effort in the fifth round but fell short of breaking into the top three, ultimately finishing in fourth place.

This event marked Nadeem’s return to the international stage since August 2023, following a period of recovery from surgery. Despite missing several competitions, including the Hangzhou Asian Games, due to a knee injury after winning a silver medal at the World Championships in Hungary last year, Nadeem remains a key contender for Pakistan at the upcoming Paris Olympics this month.
