Norris leads McLaren 1-2 as storm clouds loom at Silverstone

Lando Norris expressed his delight at his promising performance in the opening free practice sessions of the British Grand Prix, noting his preference for dry conditions after dominating the day’s proceedings at Silverstone. Five days after his collision with Max Verstappen, Norris led the way with strong showings alongside McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri, achieving a notable one-two finish before rain interrupted activities.

“It’s been a positive start,” said the 24-year-old British driver, buoyed by support from his home crowd. “This morning wasn’t the smoothest, but we made adjustments between sessions and found a good rhythm.”

Reflecting on the day’s conditions, Norris acknowledged the challenges posed by the track’s nuances and the competition from Mercedes, while expressing relief that rain largely held off, particularly for the spectators.

Despite recent controversies and critiques, Norris showed no signs of distraction, thrilling fans by topping the timesheets in both practice sessions, signaling strong form heading into the weekend’s main events.
