Crucial NA session today amid much-touted amendment bill on cards

ISLAMABAD (WS News) – The National Assembly session has been convened on Sunday (today), with much-touted 26th constitutional amendment package is on the cards.

Earlier, the session was postponed shortly after it was held on Saturday night.

The National Assembly session was held on Saturday night after the delay of many hours from its actual time. Now, it will take place on Sunday (today) at 6pm to take up much-touted 26th constitutional amendment package.

Saturday’s session took place under NA Deputy Speaker Ghulam Mustafa Shah.

SENATE SESSION

The Senate session will be held at 3pm on Sunday (today). Earlier, it started after the delay of several hours while the political huddles were in full swing in Islamabad to bring consensus on the constitutional amendment.

The Senate and the National Assembly sessions were rescheduled a couple of times.

It is anticipated that the constitutional amendments will be introduced for approval in both houses.

Saturday was a hectic day from political perspective as the two sides – ruling coalition and opposition parties – held meetings to forge consensus on the significant issue.

FEDERAL CABINET MEETING

On Saturday night, the federal cabinet could not approve the draft of the 26th constitutional amendment.

Now, its meeting has been called on Sunday (today) to mull the draft of the 26th constitutional amendment.

On Saturday night, the cabinet meeting was held in PM’s chamber in Parliament House under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

All federal ministers were present in the chamber. PM Shehbaz Sharif and Attorney General Mansoor Usman, Ishaq Dar, Azam Nazir Tarar and Mohsin Naqvi were also present in the chamber.

After the meeting, Federal Law Minister Nazir Tarar said the cabinet meeting will be held at 2:30 pm.
